Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST)

Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST™) to Reverse Receding Gums

The minimally invasive gum recession treatment options.

The Causes Of Gum Recession

Receding gums are one of the most common side effects of periodontal disease and may be affecting the quality and health of your smile. You may also develop gum recession if you tear or wear down your gums because of bad lifestyle habits. We offer the option to reverse receding gums with a minimally invasive treatment known as the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST™). This treatment can help to restore the gum line with this minimally invasive surgery.

Minimally Invasive Treatment Options for Gum Recession

Gum grafting surgery is no longer the only option for treating gum recession. Dr. Ann Astolfi has extensive experience with PST™ and has helped many patients achieve a beautiful smile with this in-office procedure. PST™ causes minimal discomfort because there is no cutting of the tissue involved. It is an attractive option for many patients with gum recession around one or more teeth. Learn more about ways to reverse receding gums and periodontal disease treatment in the Lehigh Valley by scheduling your appointment with Dr. Astolfi today.

How We Reverse Receding Gums With PST™

This procedure is performed without any scalpels or sutures. Dr. Astolfi will make a small hole in the gums using a special instrument and gently move some of the loose tissue over the areas that have receded. The gums can then heal in their new position without the use of stitches, special gels, connective tissue grafts, or other materials. Everything is done quickly and painlessly right in our office.

Benefits of the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique

PST™ offers numerous benefits to the patient and can be an attractive alternative to traditional surgery. It is a proven and effective method for restoring the gum line and can help you maintain that beautiful smile after periodontal disease or other oral health issues that have damaged the gum line. You will recover quickly from this procedure and we can treat multiple teeth in a single visit. Although this is a minimally invasive procedure, there may be slight bleeding, swelling, or discomfort involved.
