Denture Implants as an Alternative to Dentures

If you have traditional dentures and are tired of the gum irritation, discomfort, slipping, and other complications associated with wearing dentures, talk to Dr. Astolfi about the benefits of implant dentures. These dentures are secured in place with a set of dental implants so there is no risk that the dentures will shift or slip.

Key Benefits of Implant Supported Dentures

Implant supported dentures, also known as denture implants, are secured in place with a set of dental implants. These implants serve as anchors for the base of the implant and are attached to the dentures in one of two ways:

Bar-Retained Dentures

A set of metal bars run along the gum line, which serve as a foundation for a set of dentures. The bars are attached to a set of dental implants fused in the jaw, and the dentures rest securely on top of the bars.

Ball-Retained Dentures

These types of dentures are secured in place with a ball-and-socket mechanism where the base of the denture is attached to the top of the implant. The dentures cannot shift or slip so the dentures feel more secure.
