Advanced Periodontal Care in the Lehigh Valley
Many patients come in to see Dr. Ann Astolfi when they are noticing signs of gum disease or need to restore their oral health after periodontal disease. Dr. Astolfi may perform a gum graft, gingivectomy, and other gum treatments to restore the health and appearance of your gums. She also performs BOTOX to transform the gum line and is your dentist for exams and tooth extractions. Let us help you take care of your gums and oral health with advanced procedures and modern techniques.
Maintain your periodontal health with periodontal maintenance therapy. Regular cleanings and checkups can prevent the progression of gum disease and help you maintain a healthy and beautiful smile. You will still need to brush and floss daily to keep the effects of gum disease at bay.
Dr. Astolfi may decide to remove and reshape loose gum tissue to reduce periodontal pocket depth after gum disease. This procedure may be necessary when the gums are not responding well to scaling and root planing or other periodontal therapies.
We use AlloDerm® to perform gum grafting procedures at our practice. If you have receding gums and want to restore the gum line, we can use special techniques to rebuild the gum tissue without the complications associated with traditional gum surgery.
Oral cancer screenings and an annual exam are critical to your oral health. We can check for oral health issues, suspicious lesions, and other issues during an oral pathology exam. This examination includes a thorough exam of the teeth, gums, tongue, and jaw.
You may need a bite adjustment (occlusal adjustment) if the teeth are not coming together properly or you have undergone any restorative procedure and are having issues with your bite. A misaligned bite can cause TMJ symptoms and other oral health issues, so early treatment is essential for your health and well-being.
If you have damaged or decayed teeth, Dr. Astolfi can perform a simple or surgical tooth extraction to remove the tooth from the socket without causing damage to surrounding teeth. This is an in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia.
Few patients realize that BOTOX Cosmetic has many off-label uses, including reshaping the smile. If you have a crooked smile or have too much gum tissue showing when you smile, Dr. Astolfi can inject BOTOX around the mouth to prevent you from smiling fully and thereby creating a more attractive smile. BOTOX is used to reduce occlusal trauma by allowing the muscles of chewing to relax.
